Description:

Nozart is loosely based on the Arab maqam (or mode) Saba as well as the iqa or rhythmic mode Sama'i Thaqil. Using this material as a starting point, Nozart explores Western devices such as the canon. Characteristics such as the ostinato, which are common to Western as well as Arab musical traditions, help to provide a link between the two.
