Hometown: Hong Kong

Living in: Adelaide, South Australia

Sam Peng, a horn player from Hong Kong, is a graduate of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide, having studied under Philip Paine. Sam was first introduced to music at age six when he started learning the piano. When he went to secondary school, he took up the trumpet, and later switched to the horn because he loved the warm and beautiful sound of the instrument. Since then, he has performed in many concert bands and orchestras. After finishing his degree in engineering, he decided to study horn performance and pursue the life of a professional musician. Since moving to Adelaide, Sam has been actively performing, not only with the Elder Conservatorium orchestras, but also in the Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival, and other events, with ensembles such as the Adelaide Wind Orchestra and Adelaide Horn Jam. As a soloist, Sam recently performed Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3 with the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra to a full house and appreciative audience. He is also a casual musician with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
