Tom Campbell was born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and studied horn at The Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg before holding positions in the Städtisches Orchester Bremerhaven and the Melbourne and Sydney Elizabethan Theatre Trust orchestras (now Orchestra Victoria and the Opera Australia Orchestra). Tom is currently a freelance musician in Melbourne and the proprietor of: Alexander Australia, where he imports and distributes Alexander horns, Armstrong Werth oboes, and wind accessories; and Campbell Brasswind Service, where he repairs brass and woodwind instruments. In addition, he does audio recording and post-production sound work for music and film and composes for large and small ensembles and short film scores.
